logobetaThere is a major loophole with Called-ID blocking, that is it is not blocked against 1800 numbers.  The reasoning behind that is 1800 numbers technically pay to accept the call, so they can see the information.  Once you sign up for their service here, it will instruct you to how to forward rejected/missed calls to them so they can see the caller id information and then will forward the call back to you with the caller id information!  During all this time all the caller will hear is the phone ringing.

Ever wish some people would leave you alone? Some phones have a built in blocker, however the person can normally tell they have been blocked. Using this method they will not have any clue that you blocked them, and its simple. Just add them as a contact and set their personal ring tone to silent!

fb beaconWhat is it?

The face book beacon is basically a way for Facebook to harvest data about you and for companies to get more business. Just think of the beacon as a Facebook employee standing behind you while you surf and taking notes(its not this bad since not every site does it). I have not found any evidence of a way to “opt-out” or if Facebook saves data when a site such as Fandango sends it data. I may be over exaggerating this but i am not a fan of people logging what i do.

They’re doing what!? Help me stop it!

  1. Install the siteblock add on for Firefox by going here and clicking Install Now and choosing the install option.
  2. It will ask to restart Firefox after installation is done, let it restart
  3. Now from Firefox select the tools drop down and choose Add ons
  4. Select BlockSite and click the Preferences button
  5. Click Add which is under the “Blacklist” section
  6. It will ask you what to block just type in http://*facebook.com/beacon/*
  7. Click Ok twice and close the Addons box you opened before

Thats it Facebook can no longer receive any data! If you want to make sure you did this right, click here and Firefox should notify you that it is blocked!
