This is the moment we all been waiting for, a fully functional 3.0 jailbreak for the 3GS. Currently this is windows only, there isn’t much of this software it is from an individual and not the dev-team as they delayed their release of the jailbreak.
What you need
- Latest Version of iTunes (8.2)
- iPhone 3GS
- PurpleRa1n(click windows logo to download)
Steps
- Ensure iPhone is connected
- Run PurpleRa1n, click “Make it ra1n”
- It will send your iphone into recovery
- Once it detects recovery it will display the image you see to the right
- If it is here more than 2 minutes, something wrong happened. Either copy and paste purplera1n.log (located same directory as purplera1n) to our forums or email it to purplera1n.support[at]gmail[dot]com.
- Open the “Freeze” app
- Install Cydia
- Restart iPhone
- I highly recommend you to upgrade cydia once installed, just open it and go to changes and “upgrade all”
- Optional: Unlock the iPhone 3GS

Did you know you can share your computers internet connection with others? So if your mac has ethernet(cabled) connection, you can create a wireless network. Or if your MAC has a wireless connection you could share with an ethernet connection(useful for game systems!)
How To:
- Open up System Preferences, click the apple in the upper left of your screen and select it.
- Under Internet and Network select Sharing
- Click on “Internet Sharing” but don’t click the check box yet!
- On the Right select where you want to share your connection from and share it to. Example: Share from Built-in Ethernet to AirPort, will create a wireless network.
- Check the check box.
Notes:
- If creating a wireless network you will not be able to join any wireless networks until this is disabled, just uncheck the box.
- If creating a wireless network, before you enable the service you can change the name of the network or even encrypt it via WEP by clicking on “Airport Options”

At 5PM PDT the beta version of 3.1 will go live, however to upgrade to it you will lose: Jailbreak, Unlock, and the Free Tether. That being said you can always downgrade to get a Jail Break / Tether working however that is not always true for the unlock. As always we will be posting guides on performing those tasks as soon as we find out how to, so if you want to keep any of those functions DO NOT UPGRADE.
That being said here are the “new features” of 3.1.
- Voice Control now works over Bluetooth
- Updated AT&T profile to 4.2 (MMS may now be enabled)
- Improvements to OpenGL and Quartz.
- iPhone vibrates when moving icons
- Non-destructive video editing means trimming a clip no longer saves over the original video but gives you the option to “Save as copy…”
- APIs to allow third party apps to access videos and edit them.
- Updated modem firmware to 5.08.01

As you may of heard, The Pirate Bay’s ship hasn’t sank but it has been overtaken(bought) by the Global Gaming Factory, they plan to make the site a bit more legal. The Pirate Bay staff assured us not much would change(link); however if it does this will not stop piracy. Trackers are like a hydra; kill one head several will grow in its place there are literally hundreds of trackers out there:
Note: Keep in mind most likely piracy is illegal where you live; although chance at prosecution is slim-none, there is a chance.
MiniNova, many trackers appeared after the falling of SuprNova, in our opinion this is the best one that came from that group. It indexes from other trackers giving it thousands of torrents, the downside? Well every now and then you get a torrent from a private site which will either not download for you or go extremely slow.
Demonoid, is hard to classify it is a “private” tracker meaning only members can use it and the sign ups are closed. However it isn’t hard to get in they often will open registration up for a day, it is probably the easiest private tracker to get in and can be a doorway into more private ones.
1337x.org, currently a very small tracker letting Pirate Bay Users know they are safe here. Best of all this place has a 24/7 chat and several DJ’s giving it a nice place not only to pirate but hang out.

Or how about what search terms are leading to your page? Your visitors browser? It will even pull their screen resolution. However one useful piece of information hidden away in their menus is the ability look at your sites activity in a 24 hour window. Have a site and google analytics? Check this graph out:
Instructions:
- Log into Analytics and load the profiled site you wish to see hourly statistics for.
- Select Visitors then Visitor Trending from the left menu.
- Select an item under Visitor Trending
- The regular graph will appear, however just above the graph on the right there are a few buttons, click the clock(left most) and enjoy your hourly reporting!
Note: Graphs will only display 24 hours, if multiple days are selected it will respectively combine the days on one 24 hour graph.

If you want to have full tether for free, check out this guide.

- Once it is installed launch the application on your phone
- Ensure your phone is connected via USB
- Right click on your the PDANet icon of your systray(lower right hand corner by your clock, you may have to click on the arrows to see it)
If you do not see the icon, try launching PDANet, it should be somwhere in: Start > All Programs
