Recently, I took a trip to the land of my heritage, Australia, And I couldn’t leave without bringing back one or two little nuggets of info for you ninjas. So, I decided to get the recipe for one of the land down under’s er… delicacies.

What you’ll need:

  • A few Large Potatoes
  • 2 Cups of Flour (Self Raising)
  • Extra Flour for Coating
  • 1 Tsp of Salt
  • 1/4 Tsp of Pepper
  • 1 3/4 Cups of Water
  • Oil for Deep Frying

    Instructions:

    1. Peel and cut the potatoes into slices of about 1/6th of an inch. Dry Well.
    2. Sift the Salt and Pepper and flour into a bowl. Make an Indentation in the middle and gradually add water. Mix it into a thick batter and beat it free of lumps.
    3. Put a thin coating of flower on each piece and dip them into the prepared batter. Let the excess batter drip off before the next step.
    4. Heat the oil and begin frying a few pieces at a time. Remove them when they are a light golden color.
    5. Drain them on absorbent paper towels and increase the heat of the fryer slightly.
    6. Re-Fry the potatoes until they are a rich golden brown color.
    7. Sprinkle them with salt and enjoy!

Tip: The Battered Potatoes are normally enjoyed with Ranch Sauce in Australia.
