Finding Recent Events/Problems Quick
Posted by: ipp in Games, Other, tags: Google, Trouble ShootingHave you ever tried to search google and wished it would only show you new stuff? Well here is a short story of myself realizing just how much of a time saver being able to do this is.
I had bought an Xbox 360 on a day which Xbox Live was down or maintenance. However when Xbox Live is down and you try to connect it does not say “Xbox Live is Down” I had got a MTU Failure. I was searching google for MTU Failure and just came to old pages with possible ways to fix it playing with your router/calling your ISP. I did all of that and still came up puzzled, then i remembered i could have google show me only new pages within the past 24 hours(which are normally which are almost unfindable if you do a normal search), via this tutorial. I had plugged searched Xbox live MTU Fail and set it for 24 hours and came to find the first 10 results were full of pages explaining this is because Xbox Live is down.
However before i realized how smart it would be to search by date i wasted 2 full hours trouble shooting the MTU. So hopefully next time you come to a similar issue you can save time by doing this trick.
Some Possible Extra Uses of Searching Google by Date:
- Getting reviews of a new product/game, you can filter out old pages which would just have pages describing what the product is suppose to do and building hype.
- The latest tech product news such as an IPhone.
- Have more uses? Please leave comments!
