Firefoxy!Mozilla Firefox is known as one of the fastest web browsers available. Now, have you ever considered the possibility of making it even faster? This tutorial will show you how to do just that.

What You’ll Need:

  • Any PC running Firefox 3

Estimated Time:
1-2 Minutes

Let’s Get Started!

  1. First, open up Firefox 3.
  2. In the address bar type about:config
  3. A small warning message will pop up saying that messing around with the program might mess with your warranty, however we know what we are doing, so just click Continue.
  4. Right click anywhere in the about:config page area, and select New>String.
  5. Then type nglayout.initialpaint.delay in the textbox and hit OK.
  6. Another textbox will come up. In it, simply type 0 and hit OK.

What we just did: Firefox waits 250 milliseconds before loading a page, but after this quick tweak, your page will load immediately after you hit “Go”.

Finish It Up

  1. Mozilla also recommends that you create content.notify.interval and set it to match the nglayout value (0)

That’s It! You’re done!
