Fast Food - Vrrrmmm! If you eat out a lot, you know that the drive thru is a convenient way to your fast food when you’re on the run. But although it’s convenient, it’s not always the fastest. In this tutorial I will share my McDonalds Ninja experience with you all and tell you exactly how to get faster service.

  1. Plan Ahead
If you can, Try to figure out what you want before you get to the drive thru. Not only will it save some time, but it also improves the quality of your order. This is because most fast food places have a drive thru timer and “Time Targets”. At my McDonalds, we need to get people out within 150 Seconds (Starting when they first pull in). If you take more than this time just ordering, you’ll probably find that your order was thrown together and incomplete just because they wanted to get you out of the way.

  2. Don’t Turn Your Money Into Art
If you’re forced to wait in line for a few minutes, resist the urge to turn your money into origami. It’s very annoying for the employee to have to unfold these and it messes up the money. (A lot of customers will yell at employees if they get wrinkled up money in their change)

  3. Be Polite
One of the things that the employees will notice is your mood toward them. At most restaurants, the employee will say “Hi, welcome to (Their Resteraunt). How are you today?” If you just ignore them and shove the money in their face they probably wont care too much about making you happy. Just be polite and answer them. If they think of you as a polite customer, the chases are they will work faster to get you your food.

  4. Don’t Check Your Order In Line
If you want to check your order’s accuracy you should move out of line and park in a nearby space. It’s annoying for the restaurant and the people behind you to hold up the line for 2 minutes checking your 5 bag order.

  5. If Theres a Problem, Keep Your Cool

  6. It’s Not The End of the World If Your Order Gets Messed Up
If this happens to you, tell the employee about the problem calmly and politely. If you stay polite, it will be more likely that they try to accommodate you quickly. (I’ve seen a guy go into a long, F-Bomb filled rant about how he didn’t want pickles on his BigMac. Try and guess how we accommodated him.)

Haha that is so true. We should have a course for drive-thru drivers. I’ve had people order Big Mac “deals/combinations/meals/meal deals” etc and it just takes forever to get the order done, when there’s 6 cars behind him and he’s sitting there thinking of what he wants. There’s nothing like a simple order … and patience. Using a clear, loud voice helps a lot. And having your change ready before hand also helps. I’ve had a customer pay me 3.45 in pennies, holding up an entire line for me to have it all counted out. Jeez I could go on forever …
