Use Twist Ties to Store Short Length Cables!
Posted by: Matt Shearhart in Interesting & Fun, tags: Alternative Use, Cable Management, OrganizationDo you have short cables laying around the house and wish to store them? But every time you try they just get tangled up and create a mess. Well for short cables try twist ties! They can be bought or you can just reuse the ones that come on with your bread! This works great with headphone/ear bud cables!
How to:
- Get yourself a twist tie
- Fold the cable in half until you deem it the appropriate length, generally until it becomes difficult to fold in half again.
- Now use the twist tie on the center of your cable! Just wrap it around and then twist it until it becomes tight.

Folding is the worst one can do to a cable. Each type of cable has a max bend radius, beyond which it will take permanent and cumulative damage. It’s better to roll ‘em (not too tight).
I disagree cutting is the worse one can do to a cable. If it is a short cable and can be held by a twist tie(aka headphones) then folding will cause no harm. If it was a fiber cable then thats a a different story.
