Add Translation to Google Talk!
Posted by: ipp in Interesting & Fun, tags: Google, Gtalk, Translation
Did you know google has launched a set of translation bots in google talk? Well now its easier then ever to find answers on that spanish homework, lookup insults to use on Xbox Live, or just talk to a foreigner. Google currently will do 29 different types of translations. To take advantage of it simply:
- Add XX2YY@bot.talk.google.com to your buddylist. XX will be your language such as EN(which stands for English) and YY is the language you wish to translate to such as FR(which is French)
- Send the phrase you wish to translate to that person and almost instantly you will get a response back with your translation!
- You can even start a group chat and add multiple translation bots to it to get your phrases translated in many languages at the same time!
So why do the bots only use 2 characters per language? Well that is the Two Letter Language Abbreviation Standard
Here are the current english translations:
- en2ar@bot.talk.google.com (English to Arabic)
- en2de@bot.talk.google.com (English to German)
- en2el@bot.talk.google.com (English to Greek)
- en2es@bot.talk.google.com (English to Spanish)
- en2fr@bot.talk.google.com (English to French)
- en2it@bot.talk.google.com (English to Italian)
- en2ja@bot.talk.google.com (English to Japanese)
- en2ko@bot.talk.google.com (English to Korean)
- en2nl@bot.talk.google.com (English to Dutch)
- en2ru@bot.talk.google.com (English to Russian)
- en2zh @bot.talk.google.com (English to Chinese)
