Firefox FridayOne of my favorite features of Safari is the private browsing option. This will let me go to sites and such without worrying about leaving a trail behind on my computer such as cookies, history, etc. It does not really touch the hard drive it basically will tell firefox to not write to your hard drive, so the next person to get on the computer will not know what you did. Your ISP or Work probably will still have a log of what you did on their servers, so it still isn’t safe to do anything illegal. The main benefit to this over the “Clear Private Data” button that comes with firefox is that it does not delete any old data.

How To:

  1. Open up firefox and go here (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1559)
  2. Click on Install Now
  3. A dialog box should come up and have a timer, when you can click on Install.
  4. Follow the instructions it gives you, most likely it will just say restart firefox
  5. Open Firefox back up and in the lower right hand corner you should see an eye. Click it and a check mark should now be over it(this means that private browsing is turned on)
  6. Browse the web
  7. Click the eye again and all the stuff you had browsed while it was on will magically disappear!
