Everybody knows about the Ipod and its “Awesomeness”, but not as many people know of Microsoft’s Zune. Here are a couple tips you can use for setting up and playing music through the Zune software on your computer.

What you need:

  1. Zune Software, either from the CD or from this link: http://www.zune.net/en-us/meetzune/software.htm

Some Tips:

Adding folders of music to your library: Once you load up your Zune software, click on Options, located on the top, and then “Add Folder to Library”. Here you can add or delete any folder you want. When you add music to a folder you have shared with the Zune, the new content will automatically go to your library, ready to be synched to your Zune.

Media Sharing With Xbox 360: When you hook up your 360 to your computer it allows you to play music from your computer. In order to allow your music to be shared, you must do a few simple things. First, go to options on the top. Then click on library>Media Sharing. From here you can pick what kind of media you want to share. For this to work, make sure your xbox is connected to your computer (Preferably through Ethernet) so Zune detects your Xbox’s settings.

Videos With Zune: Besides playing music, the Zune can also play videos. Only problem is that Microsoft doesn’t have a video marketplace. You can bypass this problem if you have non protected video files on your computer. (I’m not going to say where to get these, but you probably have an idea) Then drag the video from its folder into the Zune library. From here the Zune will automaticall begin converting the video for playback on your Zune. If the conversion is successful, you can then synch to your zune

I just received a Zune as a gift. I use the Zune s/w to manage my music on my PC(rather than Media Center) Could someone please tell me how to remove albums from “Now Playing”?

Example: I locate an album…hit play…12 songs are displayed on teh “Now Playing” screen. Now, when I want to remove that album, I have to click each individual song and instruct,”remove from Now Playing! How can this be done for the entire collection of songs, (batch) rather than one song at a time.

    Many thanks

PS This is the only site which offered me an opportunity to ask questions. If there are better venues, please advise.

    Many more thanks
