I was intrigued about Java’s misfortune and looked into it more. Was astonished that some people have had over 5 360’s fail on them. I highly doubt it is just a manufacturer problem since some people have such horrible luck and some don’t. There is probably a condition out their which will amplify the chance exponentially. So I recommend increasing the airflow and ensuring the airflow you have is cool air. So here are my tips:
- Do not place anything on top of your Xbox, it may cause the chassis (case) to heat up which would heat up your insides.
- Do not have anything that is blowing hot air (computer, ps3, etc) next to your xbox unless the exhaust is clearly pointed away from the xbox. We do not want it using hot air to”cool”the components.
- If you lay it on its side (horizontal) place a small object on each corner. The idea is to get it about an inch elevated.
- If it is vertical make sure that it no leaning against anything you may kill about half of its ventallation! Give it about an inch on both sides at minimum

I heard the fail rate was around 33%
Almost all of the reasons xbox 360s fail have to do with overheating, im working on a way to mod my 360 so it wont overheat. Ill post it when im done.
i think it overheats because micrsoft rushed its production so it can sell it during the holidays. glad Bungie doesnt do that wiath games
