Why Adsense?
It has outperformed every other affiliate program in our tests which included yahoo, clicksor, adbrite, and a few others. The only time I would not suggest using just adsense is if you have a Flah website then you should also embed mochiads into your flash games/toons. That way when people take your work off your site and put it on theirs your ads go with it and you will get great revenue.
Placement/Style
I wouldn’t go overboard on ads just place one somwhere near your sites navigation, have it blend in, so it doesn’t look like ads. The ad format does make a difference so you may want to switch them and see what does best. Also is it a good idea to have the ads near the top of the page or in between your content, if you need the $. You may also want to use different colors on each load to make sure it stands out, here is an example of doing this:

Keywords
This is one of the most crucial parts of turning a large revenue, as it determines how much you will get for that click. Try to use the keywords on your site while keeping it relevant to your topic. Here are some “good ones:”
- University Degrees Onlne
- Web Hosting
- Medical terms/ Diseases(such as Mesothelioma)
- Satellite TV
- Video Conference
As you can see a lot of the higher paying terms relate to long term services.
Theme over Content
I find that even if you have great content if your theme is poor you will not get repeat visitors or people linking back to your site. Which is key for getting a large revenue. Just regulary update your content, generally the more pages you have the l more visitors you get from search engines.
Is it worth it?
After having this site up for about a year, it hasn’t started generated any amazing revenue. On average we get about two bucks a week and I give that away on the forums. One day just maybe we will start getting a nice stream of revenue from the ads. It’s your call thoe just make sure you stay legit and don’t tell people to click your ad or click it yourself. Google has some of the smartest engineers in the world and can most defintly find out if your doing it and ban you. I know a lot more people that cheated and got caught then got away with it.
