OS X has AES-128 bit encryption built in so you can create mountable encrypted virtual drives which you can burn to a CD. Letting only the people who know the password access what is on that media! Beware if you forget the password you too will be locked out too, this is the same encryption the US Military depends on!
Steps:
- Open up “Disk Utility” via spotlight or just find it in your Applications/Utilities folder.
- Click on “New Image” near the top.
- In the “Encryption” drop down choose AES 128
- If your wishing to make a cd chose a size that will fit on it around 600 mB is good, for a DVD 4.7 gB should be just fine.
- After you enter a name and location justclick create!
- You will be prompted for a password
- The drive will auto mount and appear with the size you picked. Just drag and drop the files you wish to be encrypted.
- Eject the drive by clicking the eject icon next to it in finder
- Whenever you or someone tries to mount this drive for reading it will prompt them for a password
- Now if you want to put it on a CD/DVD just put it in and drag and drop the image to the cd and click burn!
