This tutorial was wrote strictly for people with Motorola phones.
Its a basic method for the enthusiast, and all you need is whats listed below. Mainly you just need a cell phone.
What do I need?
- Cell phone (MOTOROLA ONLY!)
- Verizon Wireless
Anything else? (Optional)
How?
With the use of your Programming Menu code, open your programming menu by following these steps here. By following the on-screen buttons, go into Web Sessions. Then go into Options > New (Entry). Fill in the following fields dynamically to your computer / setup.
- Name: *Your desired entry name*
- Homepage: http://homepage/ (Most likely its unchangable)
- User ID: *Blank* (If using a user id, enter it in here)
- Password: *Blank* (If using a password, enter it here)
- Gateway IP 1: *IP address of your WAP proxy* (Your computers IP?)
- Gateway 1: *Hostname of your computer* (Example: No-IP or Dyndns)
- Service Type 1: HTTP
- Port 1: *Port used for your proxy*
- E2E Port 1: *Same as Port 1*
- LXL Port 1: *Same as Port 1*
- Cache Start-Up: Off (Retrieve)
Note: Field names vary from phone make and model.
Note #2: Gateway 1 and Gateway IP 1 fields are denotable. You do not need to fill in both, only one!
Keep in mind that text between two *’s denotes a dynamic field. Fill in the field properly according to your personal setup and preferences.
Once you have completely filled out the fields accordingly, press the appropreate button on your cell phone indicating ‘Done’.
You will now be back at the ‘Outbox’ or Web Session menu listing your WAP entrys. One of the entrys may be locked. This is for your own good, because it is your providors WAP entry. Causing changes to this can render your phones activity to ‘Get it Now!’ or other online features disabled.
Select your custom made entry and press your ‘Ok’ button on your phones keypad. It should open your mobile web browser, and load your set homepage (which is specified with your proxy). After clarifiying that your proxy is accessable from your cell phone and loads web pages properly, you have successfully setup your personal, free*, wireless WAP server.
The final step to keeping the free and use of this new WAP entry, is to set it as default. This will not interfear with the use of any service-provided web features like ‘Get it Now!’ or other online medias provided by your providor.
Be sure that your custom made entry is selected and select ‘Options’. Simply select the option ‘Set Default’ and press the ‘Ok’ (select) button on your keypad. You may now exit the Programming Menu and you have successfully setup free internet on your cell phone! Congradulations!

[...] Free Internet On Your Motorola Phone [...]
Will this work with t-mobile?
Does ‘free’ mean it costs airtime minutes, ‘data minutes’, or absolutely nothing?
From experience, it is only air time. If you happen to use excess data transfer limit, then i assume they charge you more for that. I havent used my internet abilitys too much, maybe once a day or so for a few minutes… but as far as I am concerned its only air time.

I think I have everything configured correctly, but once I go to my menu and then Mobile Web, then Web Sessions, select my new connection. I then get a message that says: “Welcome to Verizon! For Mobile Web or Cust. Svc., call *611.”
Any ideas what’s going on?
NEVERMIND! I got it figured out! I forgot to put in my Username and Password, works fine now! THANKS.
i still get the dial *611 error, even after running the httproxy proggie and setting up a user/pass, any suggestions?
Ok, I got this to work and everything but before I really go to use it… Is it really air-time free?
I mean, It looks like they track the usage with their web server and then bill you from the information gathered there and we are by-passing that by using our own proxy (I think thats the gist of this?)
If thats the case then I will use this, If not then meh, Nice try tho! Anyways.. Yah, Has anyone tested this and seen if it shows up on your bill or not?
Any idea on how to do this on a SLVR? I am able to get to the programming menu. But i do not have an option for “Web Sessions” any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
i have a slvr and can’t even get to the programming menu. how did you do this josecito?
