This is for if you want to sell your computer and you want to make shure whoever gets it next can’t rummage through the files and find you credit card information, social security # etc. Or you computer is so bogged down with virus’ and spyware that the only way to get it fixed is to wipe it clean.
-What You Need-
1.DBAN, you can get it here http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=61951&package_id=58479&release_id=439240
2.A blank CD
3.A PC
WARNING:The program DBAN deletes everything on a computer Files, Drivers, OS, and partitions. So if you are going to do this make shure you have all of the disks that came with your computer and a windows boot disk (the realy shiny cool looking one)
For this tutorial we will be using a very simple and reliable FREE program called Darik’s Boot and Nuke or DBAN. This is a DOS based program so no matter how badly your computer is messed up it will still run without a hitch.
So, to start off download the .iso from the download site and burn it to a CD with whatever program you use for that (preferably Nero Burning Rom). Now that you have DBAN burned to a cd place it in the disk drive opf the computer you wish to wipe clean. Boot up from the CD and either enter “autonuke” without the “” to let the program delete the hard drive itself, or you can use to various options ot your likeing.
After around a hour and a half your computer is wiped clean and overwriten so it is secure!
This is a very reliable program but if there is a someone realy determined to find your files, are very smart, and have alot of time they still might be able to find your files. The only shure ways to make shure your files are safe are to either sand down the hard drives into nothing, or my favorite melt them with thermite which is as hot as lava! This may seem as over kill to most people, but if you don’t want to go that far DBAN is right for you!

If a search on hard drives comes up with a link to Wiping a Hard Drive Clean Friday, then what might the same search bring up the following day??
